Cretan Diet Festival, takes place at Rethymno’s public garden from July 1 to July 7
and it is an extravaganza of wine tasting, cultural activities, music, dance and culinary fare, cooking and mixology events, all complemented with high-level local entertainment.
The basic philosophy of the Cretan Diet Festival is to highlight and promote local Cretan products and to encourage trade agreements for the local producers.
It is not only a great opportunity for the primary sector products to be introduced to locals and visitors and to be placed into the international market, but also a chance for all to taste unique flavors, to celebrate tradition and to experience unforgettable memories.
Certified and standard products like Cretan olive oil, cheese, pomegranate, the wine pear, snails, cosmetic products, nuts, rusks, tsikoudia, wine, aloe products and handicrafts are demonstrated.
More than any other year, this year 40 companies, 30 local producers with various products from all over Crete are participating.
Visitors will enjoy a multitude of attractions ranging from cheese making demonstration to educational and local food exhibits, to wine tasting and local prepared "meze" offerings. Cretan Diet Festival has brought the exhibition of local quality Cretan products on spot, supporting our local producers, promoting product initiatives and connecting local products with tourism.
During the entire week visitors will have the opportunity to discover and taste the main ingredients of Cretan diet, families to participate in many educational events. All these make Cretan Diet Festival a fun-filled experience at Rethymno.
