After the parade, the attention shifts to the floats, which are preserved by the municipality and the Carnival Committee for next year's public decoration. Businesses also join in by decorating their storefronts, adding to the festive atmosphere.

Many individuals are involved in designing and building the floats, showcasing their creativity and craftsmanship. What's remarkable is that most of the floats are made from recycled materials, highlighting the carnival's commitment to sustainability.

The process of constructing the floats is a joyful one, with volunteers pouring their enthusiasm into every detail. It's a wonderful blend of volunteerism and fun, evident in each float and every participating team.

This year, local business owners are optimistic about the carnival's success and its positive impact on the community. With stores and restaurants remaining open throughout the winter, there's a sense of encouragement and anticipation for a vibrant carnival season.

City of Rethymno

You are invited to travel to areas, which are perhaps still unknown to the majority, and which are sometimes remote, but always magical and magnificent throughout the seasons. We recommend our visitors to see our picturesque villages through the eyes of the soul, try the Cretan cuisine, our wine and “tsikoudia”, participate in our revelries and festivities, but most importantly get to know our soul, our hospitality, the safe, untouched interior of the region, the other Rethymno.
